Ensure you are prepared for flooding
Following recent heavy rain and flooding around the county, it is important that you are prepared and know what to do in case of further incidents.
This winter has been exceptionally wet, with several storms battering the county and a risk of more flooding, particularly in areas that are already at risk of river or groundwater flooding.
You should take steps to reduce the risk to your properties by installing property protection measures if you live in a high-risk area. These can be resistance measures designed to stop water coming in, such as a flood door, or resilience measures, which can help to reduce the impact of any flooding, such as raising any fitting tiled flooring.
You should also sign up for flood warnings and know what to do in case of flooding.
There is now a Defibrillator at The North Bradley Baptist Church. This complements the other Defibrillators at The Peace Memorial Hall, and the North Bradley Primary School. All require a PIN code to access. Pin number will be provided by ambulance service when you dial 999 and they feel it is required.
Following his recent retirement form the Parish Council, Bernard was presented with a token of appreciation from his fellow Councillors for all his time and efforts on the Parish Council. Bernard first became a Parish Councillor in 1984.
Best wishes Bernard !!
Please keep your speed down when driving through the village.
The Village Speedwatch Team were in Woodmarsh on Friday 24th, assisted by Wiltshire Police. Several drivers were "given words of advice", and 2 motorists were issued with fixed penalty notices.
If you would like to join the Speedwatch Team, contact the Parish Council. Thank you.
“Sort it before you bring it” – help us recycle as much as possible at our household recycling centres
First, we asked you to help sort your kerbside collection waste, to great success, and now we’re asking for you to please step-up once again so that we can recycle even more at our household recycling centres (HRCs).
Our data shows that more than a third of the items put in the general rubbish skips at our HRCs could have been recycled.
With that in mind, as part of our ‘Recycling: Let’s Sort It’ campaign we encourage you to sort your waste out before you visit your local HRC, ensuring that all items are separated correctly.
If you don’t have time to do this before you set off, we will soon be providing designated sorting areas at each of our HRCs to give you the opportunity to sort your materials on-site as easily as possible – with our friendly staff on hand to provide advice and guidance. The sorting areas will be introduced first in Devizes and Warminster from 4 September and then others will follow gradually after that.
