Fancy a Walk?

walkingWalking is the cheapest and probably the most enjoyable way of getting regular exercise, but what puts most people off is the thought of walking alone. Well there is an easy solution to the problem - Join a walking group!

Walking groups are organised, with experienced leaders, and in some cases qualified first aiders. Such groups send out regular walk programmes to their members and also organise social events such as BBQs and Christmas dinners. Groups usually charge an annual fee to cover the costs of printing programmes postage etc. So where are these groups and when and where do they walk? I?ve set out below details of local walking groups and their contacts:

The Ramblers Association, a National group with local branches Contact Elizabeth Weaver on 01225 868091 

Trowbridge Walking Forum walk twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Walks are in the local area, usually within 5 miles of Trowbridge, for more info Contact Alan Thirlwell on 01225 760492 

The Walk for Health Campaign walks twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Walks are in the West Wilts, East Somerset area, usually of three miles on Tues, five miles plus on Fridays. For more info contact Alf Moreton 01225 755727 or
